After years and years of sub-par DVD releases, half-baked boxsets, and an incomplete, bare-bones series of blu-rays that stopped three movies in… it’s finally happening. The entire Friday The 13th series — from the 1980 original alllllllllll the way up to the 2009 remake — is being released as a ten-disc, twelve-film, steel-book blu-ray boxed set! Look at this beauty!
This has been a long time coming, folks. Diehard Jason enthusiasts have been begging for this release for years. Never before have we gotten a boxed set with every Friday and never before have we gotten one that didn’t look like it was hobbled together in twenty minutes. But it’s coming — and it’s coming in glorious 1080p high definition!
I have to say, it’s a pretty good time to be a Jason fan. With new movies in the works, a complete blu-ray set finally on the way, and a seven hour Crystal Lake Memories documentary nearing completion, Mrs. Voorhees’ baby boy seems to be alive (or, at the very least, undead) and kicking and I seriously couldn’t be any happier about it.
The boxed set is out September 13th — which is, of course, a Friday. It’s also one fucking day after my birthday. Who wants to get me a present? >_>
